Shaper Cutter Instructions

Raised Panel Cutters:
Illustration With the shaper unplugged, carefully install the cutter as shown. These cutters are designed to rotate counterclockwise. Stock should be fed face up against the rotation of the cutter, in other words, from your right to left as you face the machine.
A fence should always be used with this or any shaper cutter. A rub collar should also be installed. Use an 1-5/8" rub collar with 3/4" bore Raised Panel Cutters or a 3" diameter rub collar with the 1-1/4" Raised Panel Cutter.

Glue Joint Cutters:
Illustration With the shaper unplugged, carefully install the cutter as shown. These cutters are designed to rotate counterclockwise. Stock should be fed against the rotation of the cutter, in other words, from your right to left as you face the machine.
The cutter must be centered in the stock. Make test cuts in scrap material to be sure the cut is centered. This is a reversible cutter, so route one piece of stock face-down, the other piece face-up. A fence should always be used with this or any shaper cutter.

Drawer Lock Cutters:
Illustration With the shaper unplugged, carefully install the cutter as shown. These cutters are designed to rotate counterclockwise. Stock should be fed against the rotation of the cutter, in other words, from your right to left as you face the machine.
Cut the drawer front face-up as shown, then cut the drawer side on-end with the inside surface against the shaper fence. A fence should always be used with this or any shaper cutter.

Safety Tips:

  • Unplug your shaper before installing or adjusting cutters.
  • Be certain that the spindle nut is tightened securely.
  • Always feed stock against the rotation of the cutter.
  • Use power feed devices if possible, or use pusher blocks, hold-downs and hold-in devices
  • Never use cutters that are dull or damaged! Inspect cutters before each use.
